About this opportunity
The 2023 Stewardship Grant solicitation is being offered by the Joint Forestry Committee (comprised of the California Association of Resource Conservation Districts (CARCD) Forestry Committee and Forest Stewardship Coordinating Committee) on behalf of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) and administered by CAL FIRE (also referred to as State). The Joint Forestry Committee will solicit proposals and select successful applicants utilizing state funds. After the selection process has been completed by the Joint Forestry Committee, CAL FIRE will work with the successful applicants to obtain needed revisions and other required documents prior to managing the award through the State’s online grant management system, eCivis. The eCivis platform will be used for all invoicing, amendments, etc, and CAL FIRE will administer the grants. The solicitation process through the Joint Forestry Committee will be a simple process with basic information necessary for the committee to be able to make their selections. However, please read the grant guidelines thoroughly as these guidelines include what will be required for all successful applicants to include for the online data submission, which includes necessary documents the State requires, what items can be budgeted, the indirect cost rate and other important information. ELIGIBLE ORGANIZATIONSApplicants are limited to resource conservation districts (RCD), State and Federally recognized tribes, forestry extension services for universities and 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations that have the capacity to expand forest stewardship planning and management primarily through educational outreach and grant preparation. ELIGIBLE FOREST STEWARDSHIP GRANTS The grants are limited to the following eligible practices that project applicants shall provide to small forest landowners under this funding:• Stewardship Planning – Assistance to eligible applicants to expand capacity to develop high-quality grant proposals for various forest health, fuel reduction, fire prevention and other forest conservation and restoration grant programs in the state.• Education and Outreach – Provide educational outreach relevant to the small private forest landowner community.
